“Avangard” Center for Patriotic Education in Moscow Region to Receive Trainees in September

RIAMO – 10thJune: Press Service of the Ministry of Education of Moscow Region reports that countdown to the first shift to start in September is now available on the portal of “Avangard” Center for military patriotic education, where youths will master basics of military service.

The Center is expected to train 28.8 thousands of senior students from Moscow Region a year. The Center offers students an opportunity to master basics of military service. “Avangard” will create the environment required to achieve this – the Center has classes with multimedia equipment, a drill ground, obstacle courses and shooting ranges.

“Avangard” Center is a unique project <…>. For more than a year we have been actively cooperating with the Ministry of Defense and Moscow authorities. In autumn <…> first senior students will come. The youths will get military training and take part in other educational activities”, reported Olga Zabralova, First Deputy Chair of the Government of Moscow Region.

Ms. Zabralova added that the senior students will participate in “Lessons of Courage” to be held in the format of meetings with veterans and Heroes of Russia. Further, they will take part in competitions, practical training and lectures dedicated to history of Russia. These activities will involve 14.4 thousands of youths from Moscow Region.

“In Moscow, much emphasis is placed on patriotic education of students. Our cadet movement is steadily developing – more than 20 thousands of youths attend cadet classes. Further, we continue developing Moscow division of the “Young Army” movement”, noted Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

Deputy Mayor stressed that more than 14 thousands of Moscow 10th-grade students and second-year college students will be able to participate in the five-day “Avangard” training sessions every year.

“Avangard” Center for military patriotic education of the youth has been created under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and Governments of Moscow and Moscow Region.The idea of creation of the Center was supported by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.Sergey Shoigu, Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation; Andrey Vorobyov, Governor of Moscow Region; and Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow participated in the cornerstone laying ceremony, which was held on 10thSeptember 2019.
