“Avangard” Center to Receive Trainees
The official website of “Avangard” Center for Military patriotic education (https://avangard.center/) now features a countdown to the first shift, which is to start in September.
The Center’s portal has started a recruiting campaign – applicants will find there a list of vacancies and description of work conditions, and will be able to vacancies they are interested in. In particular, “Avangard” is recruiting youth leaders, materials developers, instructors, mentors, psychologists and managers.
The Center is expected to train 28.8 thousands of senior students from Moscow and Moscow Region a year. The youths will master basics of military service and compete in warfare. “Avangard” will create the environment required to achieve this – the Center has classes with multimedia equipment, a drill ground, shooting ranges and obstacle courses.
Olga ZABRALOVA, First Deputy Chair of the Government of Moscow Region:
- “Avangard” Center is a unique and unrivaled project. For more than a year we have been actively cooperating with the Ministry of Defense and Moscow authorities. The first shift is to start in autumn – senior students will come to “Avangard”. The youths will get military training and take part in other educational activities, such as historical reconstructions, in “Lessons of Courage” to be held in the format of meetings with veterans, in competitions, practical training, lectures dedicated to history of Russia and lots of other activities. The Center will train 14.4 thousands of youths from Moscow Region a year. I’m sure that the knowledge and experience they will gain here will help them both in their future military service and in daily life.
Anastasia RAKOVA, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development:
- In Moscow, much emphasis is placed on patriotic education of students. Our cadet movement is steadily developing – more than 20 thousands of youths attend cadet classes. Further, we continue developing Moscow division of the “YOUNG ARMY” movement. It is highly important for us that we will have such a center within the reach. More than 14 thousands of Moscow 10th-grade students and second-year college students will be able to participate in the five-day “Avangard” training sessions.
For the purpose of spiritual, moral, civil and patriotic education and training of the youth aimed at preparing them for military service, the Government of Moscow and the Government of Moscow Region is establishing an “Avangard” Educational and Methodological Center for Military Patriotic Education of the Youth under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The idea of creation of the Center was supported by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. Construction of the center was commenced last autumn in the territory of “Patriot” Military Patriotic Park for Recreation and Leisure of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Sergey Shoigu, Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation; Andrey Vorobyov, Governor of Moscow Region; and Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow participated in the cornerstone laying ceremony, which was held on 10thSeptember 2019.
