Famous figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva met with Avangard cadets
On March 16, two-time Olympic silver medalist, two-time world and European champion in figure skating, as well as two-time winner of the Grand Prix series final Yevgenia Medvedeva visited the Avangard Military-Patriotic Youth Training Center.
The event was held within the framework of the project "Reverse side of the star". This is a new format of the center's events, which involves meetings with famous people who have achieved success in sports, culture, science and other fields.
During the dialogue, Evgenia Medvedeva spoke about her life values and plans for the future. The cadets asked her questions about preparation for competitions, healthy lifestyle, musical preferences and professional development.
According to the heroine, sports teach punctuality and responsibility. Daily hard work and discipline help you achieve incredible results. And to cope with the blues and emotional burnout, the skater is helped by willpower, personal responsibility, firm character, awareness of the path she has traveled, and most importantly, sincere words of support for her family and friends.
In addition, the athlete was asked about the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang and about preparations for it.
"I thought the Olympic Village was smaller — both the area of this village and the houses in it. But it turned out that we live right in the city. In the big Olympic city... something is similar to Moscow housing complexes, all Olympians live together, it creates a special atmosphere, " the figure skater shared.
According to Yevgenia, the best example for each athlete is his mentor. The athlete believes that it is the coach who takes on the burden of responsibility for the physical and moral health, as well as for the proper motivation of his wards.
The famous figure skater called on young people to take their work seriously — this will help them achieve all their goals in the future. The cadets, in turn, wished Evgenia Medvedeva good luck at future competitions and thanked her for her invaluable contribution to the development of Russian sports.
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere. All the cadets managed to take photos with the guest, and many of them — to get an autograph.
According to the director of Avangard Daria Borisova, such events will become traditional, and cadets will have more than one meeting with famous guests in the future.
"The reverse side of a Star" is a project that should show the children, using the example of successful and famous people, that it is possible to achieve high achievements in any field, regardless of the place of birth and social status of a young person, everything depends on motivation and dedication to their work," said Daria Borisova.
