Two - time Olympic champion, nine - time world champion, including three times-in the absolute championship and five times - in the uneven bars exercises, 13-time European champion (three times-in the absolute championship) in gymnastics Svetlana Khorkina visited the training and methodological center for military-patriotic education of youth "Avangard "within the framework of the project"Reverse side of the star". She told the cadets from Moscow about how she got into big-time sports, about her victories and failures, hobbies and social activities, and also shared the secrets of her success.
"I always struggle. I am always in overcoming the situations that arise during each day. If I hadn't devoted myself to sports, I would have been the first in another field. I don't like being tailgated, and that's always motivated me. I came to a certain date of my birth with excellent results, I have experience, wisdom, friends, a team that I like to work with, and I still continue to set ambitious dreams for myself, which I am sure will definitely come true, " said the Olympic champion.
The Honored Master of Sports of Russia also demonstrated excellent physical fitness, performed a complex somersault and taught the children several exercises from the "secret arsenal of gymnasts".
"Probably, I am prescribed to do physical education for the rest of my life, which I am very happy about, because I feel quite good. I do exercises, it is with elements of gymnastics. If I have time, I come to the gym and do something from that sports life, " the award-winning athlete shared.
Cadets in the process of communicating with the Olympic champion learned that she still takes part in many sports events. In addition, she has been holding All-Russian gymnastics competitions for Svetlana Khorkina prizes in her hometown of Belgorod for 20 years.
